FAQS
Does this mean our churches are combining into one? Am I losing my church?
No. Members of each church are working together with a common mission and vision, but this does not affect the autonomy of any one church. We are focused on what we have in common, but respect that differences exist as well.
What if I don’t agree with the mission or vision of this team?
No one should feel obligated to participate in or endorse something that doesn’t feel right. This is not intended to be adopted as an official stance of any one church. All participation and help is entirely voluntary. If you have a strong feeling that you would like to discuss, please seek out any team member for a chance to be heard.
What is meant by “partners?”
It is important to this work that those we are serving have an equal say in how we go about that. We intend to work with all groups or individuals as partners with them, not authority figures over them.
Why are we shying away from naming Jesus Christ in this mission/vision?
We recognize that many Christian words are currently being misunderstood or misinterpreted in our society. It is our hope to reach everyone in our community who may benefit from what we have to offer, regardless of his or her beliefs, affiliations, or understanding. Though WE acknowledge Christ as our leader in this work, we have discerned that many people in need could be put-off by these words. It is our intention to share God’s love through our actions.
What is new about this initiative?
It is our hope that this mission and vision will allow us to reach more broadly and deeper into our community, in addition to reaching those already within our churches. We intend to be inclusive of everyone!
Aren’t we already providing these types of services?
It is our hope that by working together we can accomplish more, perhaps on a larger scale, than we can separately. Though there may be some overlap, we are aiming to be of service in new ways as needs arise or are brought to our attention.
How can I get involved?
Simply let anyone from the team know of your willingness to help.
Where can I learn more?
There will be small group meetings (both in-person and online) offered in the near future to ask questions and interact with members of the visioning team. Information about these sessions is available on the tri-fold sheet available in your church. If you would like to have a private conversation with a member of this team please reach out via our contact form.
